Demand Information & Action From Thailand & Malaysia

The only way that Thailand and Malaysia will take this issue seriously is by ALL stings being reported (Bangkok bean-counters and KL accountants love statistics and data - without them nothing ever happens) and for ALL questions on the subject of jellyfish being directed to officials.

 Do you have concerns about box jellyfish in Thailand and Malaysia and want to know more? Go to these links and contact the relevant authority and demand answers - it's your right to know and it's their responsibility to provide the utmost care. If you're going to Koh Samui, don't ask the local hotel or resort because you simply will not get an honest or at least accurate reply, contact the Tourism Authority of Thailand - Facebook and Twitter - they need to know what is going on and need to keep their guests informed. The Phuket Marine Biology Centre is the premier facility in Thailand and needs to know whenever there is a sting so that they can investigate, same with the Bureau of Epidemiology who look after public health - email them!

 Same in Malaysia - contact the tourism authorities, LADA and Kedah are on the pulse at Langkawi, CEMACS is the marine biology centre - contact them if you have any concerns, any queries, any stings to report. Are there any sightings of box jellyfish on Pantai Cenang at the moment? Email LADA and ask them!

 This willl only take you a few minutes and if these people are aware then change will happen for the better, faster, and in all likelihood lives will be saved.

If you don't think your government has provided you with enough warning about box jellyfish risks in this region contact your country's foreign affairs and travel department or embassy and ask them to do something such as update travel warnings to their citizens.

    just came back from a month in penang and phuket , didnt see any . heard lots of reports about them in langkawi tho .
    went to bang tao , mai khao , layan beach etc . all cool in jan 2011
